I recently purchaced 4 of the "Stairville Mini Stage PAR 7x4W RGB"'s.
They worked fine for quite a while, until on one, the entire Blue Channel Died.
Here i'll document the process of fixing them!
The Diagnose
I had 3 Possible Diagnoses:
- (DMX) Control Unit Error
- LEDs Died
- LED Driver Error
Spoiler: Final Diagnose
After Ordering new LEDs and Switching them for the Original ones, it still didnt work - in the end it was a Error in the LED Driver unit. More below.
Taking the Unit Apart
Its honestly pretty straight forward, not much to explain.
Replacing the LED's
I first thought the LED's had died since there was still a supply Voltage, so i ordered replacements.
I ordered these 3x1W RGB 6 PIN Leds from Aliexpress:
Honestly, I'm unsure if they are the right fit, since the full r,g,b color is slightly mismatched to the original ones, which could be bad for lightshows!
These are the original LED's
One LED Desoldered
Leds fully swapped
The Realisation
Blue Channel - Still Dead
So I take it apart - again - and inspect the Circuit Board closer
Take a look at the 3 Black chips in the Middle:
- Top Chip: Bottom Right Pin - No Solder
- Middle Chip: 2nd from Bottom Right Pin - No Solder
Factory Issue.
I simply Soldered the Pin back, and WELL - Blue works again.
Wrapping Up
So well - Problem solved.
I wouldn't have had to change the LEDs, but the issue was the Controller.
